Introducing BDBH's Gunnar. He is a white and blue APBT (American Pit Bull Terrier). Gunnar was pulled when he was 14 weeks old from our local HS where he was ill with neurological affects of distemper. He could not walk at the time we pulled him. Less than 5 days later he had made an amazing recovery and was walking, running and playing all on his own. This boy is a true fighter and survivor. We were not expecting such a quick and uneventful recovery. We couldn't be happier that he recovered so well.
Gunnar is now 4 months old and weighed 30 pounds at the vet a week ago. Gunnar is a happy, go lucky puppy, very playful and social with his family. He is quiet when meeting new people, but comes out of his shell very fast in home settings. His foster canine family is helping him learn his doggy manners. He is housebreaking well and sleeps in his crate through the night without any accidents. He loves to cuddle and will curl up and sleep with you if you let him. Just don't tell him he's getting a bit heavy for it as he grows!
We would love to see Gunnar go to a home with bully breed experience. He will be required to attend obedience with his new family to help build his confidence with new people and strengthen his bond with his new family. Given APBT's and other bully breeds already have a bad reputation, we want a family who is committed to helping Gunnar grow up to be a well rounded, civilized, social dog who can help represent what the breed really is- a great loving and social family dog. A home with another well rounded dog would be a huge plus for Gunnar as he learns a lot from his canine buddies and gains a lot of confidence from them. Gunnar is ready and waiting for the perfect family to come find him, are you that family?
