"For the Love of a Dog" by Patricia McConnell
This was a great book! It explores how our emotions compare to the emotions of our dogs. She touches on the biology of emotions - how neurotransmitters react to stimuli & effect our emotions, in both us & dogs. She doesn't go too in depth though, so much so that a layperson like me wouldn't understand the science.
The book was a very easy read & went fairly quickly. It was very enlightening for me, someone who is a novice when it comes to dog psychology. I highly reccommend it.

Re:
I agree - this book is great! I have been recommending it to everyone I know who owns a dog. It helps you to understand your dog better and makes you think about how you are communicating, both verbally and non verbally. Lots of great tips on communication, behavior and training.
I plan to read her other book next, For the Love of a Dog.

Re:
Ditto here, I bought this book about a year ago and really enjoyed it.
In particular, the author makes a good case that canines have emotions, at least in rudimentary form.
